Location Data
Postal codes, weather, and air quality data for Cambodia.
ទិន្នន័យទីតាំង
Geographic and environmental data covering Cambodia’s administrative divisions, weather conditions, and air quality. The postal code registry is a complete, versioned dataset covering all provinces, districts, communes, and villages with 8-digit postal codes, geographic coordinates, and bilingual (English/Khmer) names. Weather snapshots hold model-derived current conditions — ECMWF IFS 0.25° values interpolated hourly, with UV index and visibility from NOAA GFS — served hourly by a self-hosted Open-Meteo on CC BY 4.0 open data for 25 Cambodian provinces and cities, recording temperature, humidity, wind speed, precipitation, pressure, visibility, and UV index. Air quality is pulled every 30 minutes from a two-provider fallback chain (OpenAQ, OpenWeatherMap) for five major cities, capturing AQI, PM2.5, PM10, O3, NO2, SO2, CO, and the dominant pollutant. Both weather and air quality support on-demand fetch-through with caching — if a snapshot or cache misses, the API fetches live data from the vendor and caches it.
Key features
Complete postal code registry with 8-digit codes and coordinates for all administrative levels
Bilingual place names (English and Khmer) throughout the postal dataset
Hourly weather snapshots for 25 Cambodian provinces and cities
Air quality updated every 30 minutes with a two-provider fallback chain
On-demand fetch-through with caching for weather and air quality — live vendor data is fetched if snapshots miss
Last-good cache fallback if a vendor is down — stale data is better than no data

SourceComplete postal code registry: all provinces, districts, communes, and villages with 8-digit postal codes, coordinates, and bilingual names. Versioned and released via S3.
Open-Meteo
SourceModel-derived current conditions for 25 Cambodian provinces and cities (ECMWF IFS 0.25°, interpolated hourly; UV index and visibility from NOAA GFS) via a self-hosted Open-Meteo on CC BY 4.0 open data: temperature, humidity, wind, precipitation, pressure, visibility, and UV index.
OpenAQ
SourceAir quality measurements (PM2.5, PM10, O3, NO2, SO2, CO) from monitoring stations in Cambodia, aggregated from upstream providers. Primary provider in the fallback chain.
OpenWeatherMap
SourceAir pollution data as a secondary fallback when OpenAQ is unavailable. Geocodes the city first, then fetches air pollution data.

Frequently asked questions
What does the postal code dataset include?
Every Cambodian administrative unit — provinces, districts, communes, and villages — with an 8-digit postal code, postal code prefix and range, geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude), bilingual names (English and Khmer), administrative level (1–4), and parent unit reference. The dataset is versioned and released immutably via S3.
Which cities are covered for weather and air quality?
Weather covers 25 Cambodian provinces and cities including Phnom Penh, Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Kampong Cham, and Tbong Khmum. Air quality covers five major cities: Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, Battambang, and Kampong Cham. Both support on-demand fetch-through — if a location is not in the scheduled crawl, the API can fetch it live from the vendor.
What happens if a weather or air quality provider is down?
Both weather and air quality have a fallback chain. Air quality tries OpenAQ first, then OpenWeatherMap. If all live providers fail, the API returns the last-good cached reading — stale data is served rather than no data, so your application always gets a response.
